Established in 2013, Smyth Handmade Knives produces incredible handcrafted pieces, perfect for a diverse clientele from professional chefs to amateur hunters. Founder and creator, Paddy Smyth, has experience using knives throughout his professional and recreational life, benefitting from years as a chef and butcher as well as a keen interest in hunting, fishing and camping. This experience is clearly woven into each knife, using his flair for detail, improved design and functionality knowhow. Current members of the Design & Crafts Council Ireland, each handcrafted knife is guaranteed to be unique and can be customised specifically based on request, mixing and matching any desired material.

The judges were particularly impressed with the individuality and luxury elements of each knife created by Smyth Handmade Knives. Through research and a process of trial and error, Paddy is entirely self-taught and uses blanks of various steels, planks of hard woods and full hides of leather to ensure that no two knives are identical. Meanwhile, the judges also credited the materials in Smyth Handmade Knives, where possible using Irish sourced woods to skillfully manufacture products. Having honed his skills as a knife-maker through sheer love and passion for the art, it is no surprise to see an array of online glowing testimonials, too.

“With love and passion for the art of knife-making, Smyth Handmade Knives offers a range of quality pieces, specifically customised on request.”
